About the Site
The Purpose of the Site:
This site is an artist and review database, and its purpose is to provide the public with
information on certain Asian artists and reviews of their work. I say certain artists because
I simply cannot put up an artist profile for every single artist ever - that would take forever!
Nevertheless, the artists mentioned on this site are ones that I feel are talented and could
use an English page written on them. (And some I write just because I like them.) Ever type into
Google someone's name like "Amano Tsukiko" and come up with absolutely no English results? (I
sure did.) Then, not giving up, you go to her official page (All in Japanese, naturally) and
click on "Profile." Copy and paste into Babelfish, hit translate, and you have something not far
from resembling the likes of 16th century English poetry. If you've ever done that, then you
probably know the certain frustration of trying to make sense out of something along the lines
of, "Taijing see upon new blue seek saxophone priority in the exam space" or "came to vivid
round intrusion was guitar be drums and trombone." Feeling the frustration of wracking my mind
for a proper explanation to such strange and blunt translations, I thought that perhaps making
an English page for the artist might cause less stressing with people who are just trying to
find out what genre a band like nobodyknows+ belongs to (they're rap/hip hop if you were actually
wondering) or the release date of the Psycho le Cemu album. I had seen many sites with artist
profiles and such before, so I thought that I might make one and perhaps some people would find
it helpful. Hopefully, it can spare some from a bit of Babelfish nonsense as well.
On the Name: Projekt Poo
Several months before the launch of this site, I had mentioned the idea of a music review/artist
profiles site in my Livejournal. Since my ideas usually get killed and rekilled and rekilled
some more before they actually become something, I wasn't sure if I would actually stick to the
idea of making the music reviews site. Therefore, I didn't want to give it a name before I was
sure the idea was actually going to become more than just something I thought up on whim and
forgot about. So I gave the idea code name Project Poo. Project for it being an online project I
an planning, and Poo because I like word. (please don't ask -_-") After I was sure Project Poo
was here to stay, I started thinking up names. I came up with stuff like "Double Forte" and
"Fortissimo" which just sounded way to weird for an Asian based music reviews site. So the name
Project Poo kind of stuck until I could think up something better. However, I did not. I also
liked the ring to the name Project Poo, because it was something rather attention catching and
wasn't overused. (Well, not everything these days is named poo for good reasons.) I changed the
spelling of "Project" to "Projekt" on whim one day when I was writing in my LJ again. The
spelling stuck as well, so that's the little history of this rather bizzare (if I must say
so myself) name.
